DR KERRYN ATWELL

BSc, BMBS, FRACP, MPH, DRANZCOG

Kerryn enjoys seeing children and families with all paediatric issues, as she loves the chance to use physiology and psychology to understand, adapt and develop an approach best suited to each family’s unique circumstances.

Understanding science has been endlessly fascinating and has led to obtaining very broad qualifications in General Paediatrics (FRACP 2015), Neonatology (FRACP 2017), a Masters of Public Health (2018), and Diploma of Obstetrics (2006). She also enjoys staying up to date with the latest knowledge and has published research relating to the outcomes of extremely premature babies.

However, learning about the challenges of parenting has probably been worth several academic qualifications. Her approach is guided by concepts such as Circle of Security and her current favourite book is “How to talk so little kids will listen” by Joanna Faber.

She completed medical school studies and paediatric training between Darwin and South Australia. She met a Tassie boy and now spends most of her time keeping her three enthusiastic children busy and delighting in the little things in life that children help you notice.
